Heart of Matter: We Belong to the Whole

“We emerge from the whole; we belong to the whole; and we are endowed with the capacity to evolve to higher levels of complexity and consciousness.”

Ilia Delio, Making All Things New

+

“Emergemos del todo; pertenecemos al todo; y estamos dotados de la capacidad de evolucionar a niveles superiores de complejidad y consciencia.”

What is being asked?
What is being moved?

Yes Ilia, thank you for this image of all of us belonging to “the Whole”, the mystery that keeps us evolving in matter and spirit toward the wonder that is the Divine! Let us care for our planet and all that have shown up here with gratitude and love!

The whole begins with the seamless, undifferentiated union of spirit and matter that evolves and becomes more differentiated and complex. In miniature, such is replicated in the union of sperm and egg (zygote), also an undifferentiated, seamless unity that divides in complexity, first splitting in two, then four, eight, sixteen, etc. In each instance the whole is created (and fecundated) by the union of opposites that attract, the former acting upon the latter, which in turn is acted upon, as male to female. So in the broadest sense, everything is “sexed,” each being half of a sacred whole whose union sparks life, evolution, and complexity. But note, the star of the show is neither the whole itself, nor is it complexity, or evolution, or even life. It’s the spark, the divine fire, the “Let light be” of Genesis 1, offspring of the collision of opposites — light — otherwise known as Christ, a.k.a. the “Light of the World,” the universal constant in whom “all things consist and are held together (Col. 1:17).

I am asked what I accept in a vision of fulfillment. I accept growth into transformation according to the spirit of loving generosity. I cooperate in each day’s movements so that the whole will be greater than the sum of their parts. I am grateful to be involved, making free movements, inspired for the greater good.

Ilio Delio’s writing have deepened my relationship and understanding of God. I have developed a new and more realistic understanding of death. My life and spirituality are richer because she has welcomed us to join her in our journey toward oneness. Thank you 3 x’s, thank you. Cynthia
