A Prayer by Pearse McDonah

Eternal unfolding divine wisdom; evolutionary breath of life, guide our discerning hearts and minds to grasp with certitude, the ever-present light which is at the core of our being, and at the core of all creation and all people.

Guide our hearts, minds and wills to converge towards a greater sense of unity and wholeness; with love and compassion being our guiding light and our final goal. 

Grant us the vision to see as Jesus sees, to love as He loves, to walk among the trials and tribulations of our times (both small and great) with a spirit of wisdom. Let our fingers remain on the pulse of the joys, hopes and aspirations of humanity, and grant us the prophetic courage to walk in solidarity with those who are suffering (mention current needs).

In sharing our stories today, may we grow towards a greater sense of wholeness and solidarity with each other, recognising that the shared human story is both profoundly personal, and wholistically global. 

May we, like Teilhard de Chardin, have the faith to see the divine sacredness in and through all things, both of the created world as well as in the mystery of human consciousness and evolution. May we recognise the sacredness of each day, of each moment and of each breath. 

Help us to see the Gospel of life in each of our stories and the face of Christ in each other and in all people who bear the inner dignity of being made in the both the image and the likeness of divine life herself.
