Parts of the Whole
“Parts of the Whole” was created after attending a symposium with Ilia Delio:
“The holysun
Rising over the whole earth,
Chistifying the world
Into a new day.
The news is sad and ugly
Because we are created For beauty.
The world will be saved
By beauty.”
Ilia Delio
This painting – part of my “Kata Holos” series – expresses my stepping into and up to a new level of participation in humankind — as recent graduate of the Living School, as artist, as friend and neighbor —
As tiny speck of matter connected to and drawn ever closer to the omega point that is the source of all creation and creativity.
“Kata Holos” or catholic means belonging to and conscious of the whole. Ilia Delio, in her book “Making All Things New,” reminds us that life began with consciousness and wholeness. We emerged from something that we are part of —
That something is love.
Love is attractive and generative — and we, as persons, are attracted together and pulled forward by this love. Where we act from a divided consciousness, we are separated from this love and create a divided world.
This painting is an invitation to look within and without for every opportunity to unite with others in love.
