Christ the Evolver
July 9, 2020//
“Christ the Evolver” is a piece influenced by the life of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and the concept of the third, and cosmic nature, of Christ. The piece attempts to reimagine one of the oldest Christian icons, the Christ Pantocrator of St. Catherine’s monastery, within the context of the evolutionary mysticism of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin through the artistic process of digitally composite art.

Two related questions for Ilia: Other than evolution, Teilhard’s model appears to have no eschatology (doctrine of last things), at least not one consistent with biblical references to Christ’s second return. Unless Teilhard intended them to be one and the same, how do you reconcile Teilhard’s evolutionary model with Christ Omega as revealed in Scripture? Also, there has been no appreciable “peace on earth” through any of the previously recognized means of integration, either in religion or science or governments or the UN or by way of treaties. How will Teilhard’s conceptual model involving the third nature of Christ (cosmic), one that synthesizes science and religion, offer a substantive practical solution toward healing the multiple splits and divisions within and among peoples of the earth?
Dear Ryan, Grand to see evolutionary extreme Jaina cosmology confirming Christianity’s more recent ‘texts’.
