Celebrating a New Year: On the Cusp of the New
We are on the cusp of a New Year. Our earth has made a complete revolution around the sun. While we mark the New Year as a temporal milestone, it fundamentally reflects a physical event – Earth completing its solar orbit. Time itself emerges from our perception of such change and movement. While the Earth’s orbital cycle is precise, our perception of this duration varies dramatically. As Einstein realized, time itself is not absolute but relative to the observer.
Just as we recognize seasonal shifts and celestial motions, our consciousness transforms these physical phenomena into the concept of time. This awareness helps us navigate and understand life’s continuous flow, turning abstract cosmic cycles into meaningful markers of existence.
As we celebrate the New Year, we turn the concept of time into action – making resolutions that will initiate personal and collective transformation. Celebrating the New Year is more than just a calendar event – it is a moment when natural cycles align with human aspiration. At this cosmic turning point, we stand as conscious witnesses to an extraordinary dance: our planet completing another spiral through space, while we, its inhabitants, contemplate our own transformative journey.
Think about it – in the vast expanse of space, amidst countless unthinking worlds, here we are. Not just particles being moved by gravity, but beings who can look up at the stars and say: “This revolution means something. This change has purpose.”
When the Earth crosses that invisible finish line around the sun, we do something remarkable – we dream. We take this celestial event and transform it into possibility. While other planets simply orbit, we orbit with intention. We make resolutions. We imagine better versions of ourselves. We dare to believe that this astronomical cycle can mirror our personal growth.
This is the true magic of celebrating a New Year – not just that we have traveled another 584 million miles through space, but that we have decided this cosmic journey should inspire our human one. In a universe that mostly just exists, we choose to evolve. In the darkness between the stars, we light the flame of aspiration.
So, as we cross this celestial threshold, remember: We are not just marking time. We are participating in humanity’s unique gift – the ability to transform astronomical motion into meaningful change. The stars may wheel above indifferently, but we greet each revolution with purpose, with hope, with the audacity to imagine and create what has never been before.
Happy New Year!

The Feast of Christmas holds a mystical quality – it stands as a Kairos moment, a divine interruption in our hurried world. In this sacred pause, we’re called to still…
Thank you for this stunning, practical reflection on being human in an evolving universe. Bring in the new!
Whatever ‘stability’ there is in ‘the’ universe, as in our individual version of it, is dependent upon relationships. Mutuality, reciprocity and inter-dependence whether conscious and deliberate, benevolent or malicious seem like a celestial ‘spread sheet’ equation of interrelated factors, or a celestial melody of ‘cordant’ and discordant notes. Either or both are leading to an outcome. Most of us see ourselves as instruments being played , a ‘factor’- and we are. Each and every person is also in some way the composer, artist, player, ‘mathmatician ‘ responsible for the outcome, the opus,
Thank you, Ilia, for the seeds you are sowing. “We orbit with intention.” Another spiritual group with whom I gather encouraged me to live with intention in 2025 and provided a small white magnet on which to write a word to keep in mind this year. I wrote “Awakening.” I have recently pondered what sets apart a ‘golden age’ in human history? My sense is that if a group of people come to think that it’s about the right time for such to occur, and allow their minds and their hearts to remain open, our journey together could be, dare I say, globally uplifting. May the Center for Christogenesis be fruitful & multiply in 2025!
Thank you for all you have courageously done to feed our minds and spirit in this past year. We were already tuned toward Teilhard and aware of how he had raised our consciousness by leaps and bounds. During our college years the Catholic Colleges were not allowed to share his teachings, but a private Presbyterian college in Storm Lake, Iowa (Buena Vista) taught his book; “The Phenomena of Man”.
When we were introduced to your writing you had already written many beautiful books, however it wasn’t until your book; The Unbearable Wholeness of Being; (God, Evolution, and the Power of Love) that you came into our radar, literally blowing our socks off🤣 We have every book and the books before we even knew of you and shared them with many.
Thank You for being so unselfish in toiling with the gift of your beautiful Mind and Heart. The Book; The Not Yet God is going to be another classic for the years ahead. Joyfully awaiting your next book on Saint Francis and the mystical life arising within and around him and his followers. Take very good care of you, and may your staff too remain in good health. We are so grateful knowing you continue to be with us as we enter 2025. Blessings💖
