The Heart of Matter: A Divine Kiss

Tuesday, November 29, 2022

“The name God points to the mystery of an unspeakable source of eternal love that flows endlessly from the divine kiss that is, at once, a deep intimate presence toward ultimate transcendence and fulfillment.”

Ilia Delio’s, The Hours of the Universe

“El nombre de Dios apunta al misterio de una fuente inefable de amor eterno que fluye sin cesar desde el beso divino, que es su profunda e íntima presencia, hasta su máxima trascendencia y plenitud.”

Ilia Delio, The Hours of the Universe

What is being moved? What is being asked?

That “deep intimate presence” is that part of humanity and creation that exists in all the rest, a seamless mixture of matter and spirit, visible and invisible, bread and wine. A mutual indwelling more intimate than a kiss, it inhabits us and we it. Creation is bi-facial, everything has a visible outside and a granular inside, and both seamlessly intermingle, flowing to and fro between then in mutual feedback loops. Divinity is their mixmaster, and the material order it’s vessel. Ancient Wisdom (Sophia) invites one and all to partake of the fruits of their intermingling. “Come eat the bread and drink the wine I have mingled”(Pr. 9:5,6, KJV). Such is a communion/union of the most intimate kind — the mixing of two things that form a compound or whole greater than either alone.

I love to look into my eyes and smile with love to the God within who is the source of our love in this incredible universe.

Imagine the consequences if all users of the name God, did so with similar insight!
