SUMMARY:Rethinking Religion in an Age of Science
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Christogenesis will hold its annual conference virtually starting Friday\, May 2\, 2025\, and continuing through the weekend. \nRethinking Religion in an Age of Science: From Institution to Evolution\nAccording to recent Pew Studies\, religion is waning as spiritual secularism is rising. While the data has sounded alarm bells\, there may be good reason why religion has become irrelevant while spirituality has become a cultural icon. This conference aims to suture the relationship between religion and spirituality by relocating religion at the heart of cosmic life. Religion has not gone away but it is advancing in new ways. Formal or institutional religion has sidetracked the modern person by placing constraints around religion and segregating its core energies in creeds and doctrines. Teilhard de Chardin realized that religion is essential to the direction of evolution. We will explore how a renewed sense of religion in evolution can reinvigorate planetary life\, especially in an age of technology. \nLearn more about our speakers on our conference page. Detailed session schedule\, talk titles and abstracts to come soon. \nStudent pricing and limited scholarships are available for this conference. Please apply here and we will email with registration instructions.

SUMMARY:Does God Need Us?
DESCRIPTION:The St. Catherine of Siena Lecture will be given online and in-person by Ilia Delio for our partner The Well Spirituality Center\, co-sponsored by The Siena Center of Dominican University. \nClassical theology states that God freely creates\, that is\, God creates with no other motive than God’s own desire and delight. God is in relationship with us but does not depend on us. Teilhard de Chardin reflected on God’s relationship to the world and concluded that God and the world are in mutual relationship. God is not so much delighted by the world but dependent on the world for God’s own fullness of life. We will explore Teilhard’s insights with regard to the significance of the cosmic Christ\, Christian life\, and the Church. \nA recording will be available to registrants via email approximately 3 business days after the program. \nTo purchase tickets and learn more visit the event page. Please contact The Well Spirituality Center with questions.

SUMMARY:Is Real Change Possible? Changing our Minds in a Sea of Information
DESCRIPTION:This is a no-cost webinar as part of our June Fundraiser. Simply register in advance below to receive the access information. To learn more about the vision for our June fundraiser\, read Sr. Ilia’s post Integral Ecology in an Age of AI. \nThe mind is everything: what you think\, you become; yet what shapes the mind? Culture? Religion? AI? From where do our thoughts arise? What forms our ideas? Integral ecology is a consciousness of deep relationality on every level. We know this intellectually\, but we do not know this psychologically\, religiously\, or emotionally. Deep relationality does not influence our minds in the same way as does consumerism\, money\, or social media. What are the obstacles? What are the invitations? And is real transformation possible? \nJoin Sr. Ilia Delio and Robert Nicastro for this special event on Friday\, June 20 2025 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET. \nTo add a donation to your registration and support our June fundraiser use this seperate\, secure form. \nA copy of the recording will be sent to all registrants within two weeks of the event.

SUMMARY:The Art of Becoming Fearless
DESCRIPTION:Join us Thursday\, August 28\, at 7 p.m. ET for a Center for Christogenesis webinar with our Executive Director\, Robert Nicastro\, PhD. \nIn a world facing ecological collapse\, technology unmoored from wisdom\, and a deepening crisis of meaning\, fear has become the undertow of modern consciousness. This webinar invites us to resist that gravitational pull by reclaiming the prophetic imagination and Teilhard de Chardin’s vision of relational holism. Drawing from the urgency of the biblical prophets\, who dared to speak hope into history’s darkest hours\, as well as Teilhard’s cosmic mysticism\, we will reframe fear not as an adversary\, but as a crucible for transformation. Fear is not darkness to escape\, but a threshold of possibility: a charged space where divine longing stirs human courage and the future leans in\, inviting response. To live fearlessly is not to reject vulnerability\, but to embrace it as the birthplace of deeper trust in the unfolding of love at the heart of the cosmos. In the spirit of the prophets and the evolutionary rhythm of life itself\, fear becomes the spark that calls us to risk more boldly\, rise more fully\, and become more wholly ourselves. \nThe recording will be available to all registrants within one week of the event.

SUMMARY:The Future of Religion: Questions from the Next Generation
DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday\, September 23\, 2025\, at 7 p.m. ET for a Center for Christogenesis free live Q&A with Robert Nicastro as part of our monthly webinar series. Simply register in advance below to receive the access information. \nTo add a donation to your registration and support our work use this separate\, secure form. \n\n“The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for hope.” \n— Pierre Teilhard de Chardin \nTeilhard’s insight reminds us that the vitality of religion is carried forward by the hope of emerging generations and sustained by the wisdom of those who have gone before. Today’s generation is entering a new stage of evolution\, in which digital culture\, planetary crisis\, and expanding consciousness are accelerating the growth of the noosphere and reshaping what it means to be human.  \nIn this live Q&A\, Robert will engage the pressing questions being asked about the future of faith. Guided by Teilhard’s cosmic vision\, we will discuss how religion might take new form as evolution presses toward greater complexity and convergence. What does the energy of divine love look like in an age of technology and artificial intelligence? How do we understand God in a universe still coming to birth? And what forms of faith can sustain hope\, creativity\, and wholeness across generations? This conversation opens a space for dialogue and collective imagination\, inviting us to glimpse the religion of tomorrow emerging within the unfinished universe. \nA copy of the recording will be sent to all registrants within one week of the event.

SUMMARY:The Story of the Noosphere
DESCRIPTION:Join us Wednesday\, October 22\, at 7 p.m. ET for a Center for Christogenesis webinar with Brian Swimme and Monica DeRaspe-Bolles\, authors of award-winning The Story of the Noosphere. \nThe Story of the Noosphere reimagines our role in Earth’s evolution. We are not here merely to consume\, but to participate directly in bringing forth a unified humanity. The same cosmic evolutionary force that created stars and galaxies is now constructing a thinking Earth\, with the human collective as a planetary mind—what Teilhard de Chardin named the “noosphere.” Once perceptible only to visionaries like Teilhard\, the noosphere is now visible\, to any attentive mind\, as a global nervous system of instantaneous communication\, as an economic network more powerful than any nation-state\, and as an AI-infused internet offering the full treasury of human knowledge to every community. This vision is no longer abstract philosophy; it is the architecture of our daily lives. Just as we now rely on the noosphere for our survival\, the noosphere relies on us—on our creativity\, insights\, and aspirations—for its ongoing emergence. In this new cosmic story\, each of us lives at the junction where the universe is awakening. Our personal destiny is entwined with the destiny of the whole. The challenge is not simply to observe this new era of Earth’s history\, but to shape it—to bring intelligence\, compassion\, and courage to the great work now underway.  \nAbout Our Guests\nMonica DeRaspe-Bolles is a doctoral student at the California Institute of Integral Studies\, where she researches time-developmental cosmology and the potential emergence of a new structure of human experience that fosters cosmogenetic awakening. She is the co-author of The Story of the Noosphere and the co-writer of its thirty-five companion minifilms\, created in collaboration with Brian Thomas Swimme. \nBrian Thomas Swimme is Emeritus Professor of Cosmology at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He completed his doctoral work in gravitational dynamics at the University of Oregon. Swimme is the host of the Emmy Award–winning PBS special Journey of the Universe\, co-written with Mary Evelyn Tucker. His most recent book\, Cosmogenesis: An Unveiling of the Expanding Universe\, is an early example of autocosmology—a genre blending contemporary science with cosmological phenomenology. He writes Starborne: The Journal of Autocosmology on Substack. \nThe recording will be available to all registrants within one week of the event.

SUMMARY:The Christian Mutation: Why God Cannot be Static
DESCRIPTION:Join us Thursday\, December 4\, at 5 p.m. ET for a Center for Christogenesis webinar with Ilia Delio. \nOur communities are hemorrhaging. Racism persists. Gun violence claims the innocent. Immigrants are scapegoated. Nationalism wraps itself in the flag and claims the name of Christ. If religion is\, as Tillich argued\, the substance of culture\, then our cultural substance is corrupted. But the question is more urgent than diagnosis: What if Christianity abandoned its political vocation at the very beginning? What if\, in the early centuries\, we traded the revolutionary God of Jesus for a philosophical abstraction—a timeless\, immutable\, apolitical principle governing us from a distance? \nThis talk will ask: Who is the God of Jesus of Nazareth\, the God of radical mutuality\, vulnerability\, and love? Sr. Ilia will discuss how this God is fundamentally relational\, genuinely becoming\, and deeply embedded in the world’s suffering and creativity—offering us a path beyond both religious nationalism and secular despair. She will then turn to Teilhard de Chardin’s notion of love as the evolutionary force through which God emerges within creation\, and through which a genuinely new political order might yet be born. \nThe recording will be available to all registrants within one week of the event.

SUMMARY:Activating Cosmogenetic Experience with Brian Thomas Swimme
DESCRIPTION:This is the start of an eleven-week course throughout with our friend Brian Swimme and organized by Deeptime Network. Please learn more\, contact with questions or register at the event page on our partner’s website. \n\nA New Structure of Experience is arising\nOur course is based on the premise that a new structure of experience is giving rise to a new form of humanity. All leaps in being began with a new form of experience. In our present leap\, the new form is identified as “cosmogenetic experience“ and as “time-developmental experience.” Experience is understood as the primary mode in which reality becomes present to human consciousness. Experience is prior to any concepts or ideas concerning reality. Experience comes first and establishes a new civilization with new ideas and institutions. Consciousness is understood as the capacity of perceiving one’s own inner states.

SUMMARY:Whitehead’s Universe (Group A Launch)
DESCRIPTION:This is a five-week rolling course throughout 2026 with our partner and friend at the Center for Process Studies\, Andrew Davis. Please learn more\, contact and register at whiteheadsuniverse.com. \nDr. Andrew M. Davis’s five-week online introduction to Whitehead’s Universe is returning in 2026! \n“Process philosophy” is wider than any single thinker\, yet Alfred North Whitehead (1861–1947) remains its defining figure for the modern world. His “philosophy of organism” offers a profound vision of reality as dynamic\, relational\, and always alive with possibility and value. His wife Evelyn once compared his thought to a prism: “It must be seen not from one side alone but from all sides…as one moves around it\, the prism is full of changing lights and colors.” \nThis course invites students\, lifelong learners\, and the philosophically and theologically curious to explore the many sides\, lights\, and colors of Whitehead’s universe—ranging from the microscopic to the cosmic\, and always in relation to human experience as an expression of the cosmos. \nCourse Structure & Schedule\nThe course unfolds over five live Zoom sessions\, running on a rolling schedule throughout 2026. Two initial iterations with respective US Pacific and US Eastern groups are now open for registration: \nJanuary-February \nGroup A: Meets Wed\, 5:30-7:30 PM\, PST (1/14\, 1/21\, 1/28\, 2/4\, 2/11).\nGroup B: Meets Fri\, 5:30-7:30 PM\, EST (1/16\, 1/23\, 1/30\, 2/6\, 2/13). \nMarch-April \nGroup C: Meets Wed\, 5:30-7:30 PM\, PST (3/4\, 3/11\, 3/18\, 3/25\, 4/1).\nGroup D: Meets Fri\, 5:30-7:30 PM\, EST (3/6\, 3/13\, 3/20\, 3/27\, 4/3). \nReadings & Resources\nPrimary readings are provided and are drawn from Dr. Davis’s forthcoming book Whitehead’s Universe: A Prismatic Introduction. Supplementary readings are also available for those who wish to dive deeper. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to contribute to weekly forum discussions and a write a short concluding paper. \nWhy Join? \n\nEngage directly with Whitehead’s transformative vision in an accessible yet rigorous way.\nParticipate in live discussions with a close community of seekers and lifelong learners.\nReceive early access to draft materials from Dr. Davis’s upcoming book.\nExplore one of the most creative and relational visions ever to emerge in the history of philosophy and theology.\n\nWhat Are Students Saying? \n\n“…I want to say how incredible our Whitehead course was. I am still reeling from all I learned…”\n“…Your lectures and your book in progress have been everything I hoped they would be\, and more.”\n“I immensely enjoyed the class and especially love the very approachable engagement with metaphysics in your book!”\n“Your class was transformative for me.”\n\n  \nFor more information\, download the syllabus and register at whiteheadsuniverse.com. \n

SUMMARY:How Christianity Got Jesus Wrong with Reggie Williams
DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday\, February 3rd\, at 7 p.m. ET for a Center for Christogenesis webinar with Reggie Williams. \nThroughout history\, shifting social\, political\, and economic circumstances have brought new interests and anxieties to the surface\, shaping the questions each era brings to the story of Jesus. Yet these shifts have rarely been harmless. This ongoing process of adaptation has repeatedly remade Jesus into an ideological avatar\, depicting him as one who sanctifies injury and harm—clothing violence in the garments of devotion to God. So deeply has Christianity been entangled with destructive political and cultural projects that confronting harmful ideologies is often perceived as an attack on the faith itself. To break this destructive pattern\, we must ask with seriousness: how have Christians come to misunderstand Jesus so profoundly? \nAbout Reggie Williams\nReggie Williams is Associate Professor of Black Theology and African American Studies at St Louis University in St Louis\, Missouri. He is the author of Bonhoeffer’s Black Jesus: Harlem Renaissance Theology and an Ethic of Resistance\, which was selected as a Choice Outstanding Title in theology\, in 2014 (revised edition\, 2021). The book examines the impact of exposure to theology in the Harlem Renaissance on Dietrich Bonhoeffer\, who was killed by the Nazis in 1945 for his resistance. Dr. Williams is currently work includes a story of a complicated Christian response to fascism\, and a study of ethics for better response to social injustice. Dr. Williams’ research interests include Black Theology\, Black Studies\, Dietrich Bonhoeffer Studies\, and Christian ethics. Dr. Williams is a board member of the English Language section of the International Dietrich Bonhoeffer Society\, former board member of the Society for the Study of Black Religion\, and the Society for Christian Ethics. Dr. Williams and his wife Stacy are the parents of a son\, Darion\, and a daughter\, Simone.

SUMMARY:Whitehead’s Universe (Group C Launch)
SUMMARY:Trauma\, Transformation\, and Christ-wholeness with Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining
DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday\, March 17\, at 7 p.m. ET for a Center for Christogenesis webinar with Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining. \nJoin the Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining for a webinar that explores the intersection of faith\, tradition\, and intergenerational trauma\, with special emphasis on the Indigenous connection to evolutionary spirituality. We will examine how trauma is passed down through generations\, not just through stories and behaviors but also through a deeper\, embodied memory known by Indigenous cultures as blood memory\, highlighting the unique contributions of Indigenous wisdom to the process of spiritual evolution and healing. The webinar will also integrate perspectives from the classic mystical Christian tradition—specifically the stages of purgation\, illumination\, and union—as a spiritual framework for healing.  \nDrawing from Raining’s academic research\, her personal experience as a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa\, and classic Christian teachings\, participants will gain an understanding of how trauma impacts individuals\, families\, and communities across time\, and how healing practices rooted in cultural memory\, tradition\, and spirituality—especially Indigenous teachings—can foster resilience and transformation. The webinar will engage with discussion and encourage participants to consider both personal and collective pathways to healing. \nABOUT HILLARY RAINING\nThe Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining serves as the Rector of St. Columba’s\, Washington\, DC. An accomplished scholar and writer\, she holds a Master of Divinity from Yale and a Doctor of Ministry from Drew University. Her academic work explores reconciliation\, liturgy\, and Indigenous theology. She is the founder of The Hive\, an award-winning nonprofit and global online community dedicated to spirituality and wellness. Known for her holistic approach to ministry\, Hillary is also a spiritual director\, forest therapist\, and yoga instructor who remains a frequent contributor to national Episcopal publications and podcasts.  \n\n\n\nThe recording and transcription will be available to all registrants within one week of the event.

SUMMARY:Explicitly Embodied: Exploring the Sacred Synergy of Spirit and Psyche with Andrew Del Rossi
DESCRIPTION:Join us Thursday\, April 16\, at 7 p.m. ET for a Center for Christogenesis webinar with Andrew Del Rossi. \nExplicitly Embodied: Exploring the Sacred Synergy of Spirit and Psyche presents an integrative perspective of spiritual growth as an expression of conscious evolution. Drawing on the insight that spiritual awakening is a process of embodiment\, this talk proposes that psyche and spirit mature together through lived\, relational\, and incarnational experience. \nAt the heart of this webinar is Sacred Synergy\, Andrew Del Rossi’s forthcoming book with Paulist Press. The text presents a framework that brings psychology and spirituality into a dynamic and relational dialogue. Engaging the evolutionary mysticism of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin\, the depth psychology of Carl Jung\, and the integrative vision of psychosynthesis articulated by Roberto Assagioli\, the talk demonstrates how inner transformation calls us to participate in a larger cosmological and evolutionary process. Rather than remaining at the level of abstraction or esoteric speculation\, these perspectives are translated into accessible\, real-world applications that address everyday challenges of meaning\, identity\, and wholeness. \nDesigned for both seasoned seekers and those new to exploring the spiritual life\, this webinar emphasizes concrete practices\, examples\, and interpretive tools that nurture authenticity\, joy\, and purpose amid the complexities of contemporary life. By affirming embodiment as the locus of spiritual realization\, Explicitly Embodied invites participants to experience spiritual growth as conscious participation in the sacred unfolding of the universe. \nABOUT ANDREW DEL ROSSI\nAndrew Del Rossi\, ThD is a theologian\, author\, podcast host\, and the Director of the Spirituality and Retreat Center at Daylesford Abbey. His forthcoming book Sacred Synergy: Spiritual and Psychological Growth in an Evolving World is scheduled for release with Paulist Press in May 2026. \nThe recording and transcription will be available to all registrants within one week of the event.

SUMMARY:Journey to Greece with Ilia Delio
DESCRIPTION:This is a ten-day in-person educational experience with Ilia Delio we’re sharing on behalf of Thalassa Journeys. To inquire or for more information contact our partners via phone or email. \nDownload this brochure .pdf for the full itinerary and program description. \n \nDear Friends\, \nThe ancient Greeks are rightfully credited as the founders of Western science\, not because they had microscopes or laboratories\, but because they fundamentally invented the method of scientific inquiry. Between roughly the 6th century BCE and the 4th century BCE\, Greek philosophers developed the revolutionary idea that the natural world operates according to intelligible principles that human reason could discover. This shift from mythological explanation to rational investigation marks the birth of science as we know it. The earliest Greek thinkers\, known as the Pre-Socratics\, initiated this intellectual transformation by daring to ask: what is the world fundamentally made of\, and how does it work? Rather\nthan accepting traditional mythological accounts of creation and divine intervention\, figures like Thales\, Anaximander\, and Heraclitus sought material and rational explanations. Thales of Miletus (c. 624-546 BCE)\, often considered the first Western philosopher\, proposed that water is the fundamental substance of all things—a claim that seems quaint to modern ears\, but nevertheless a search for a unifying principle based on observation rather than mythology. Socrates (469-399 BCE) left no written works\, but his method of questioning\, dialectic reasoning\, and the relentless pursuit of truth through logical argument—became foundational to scientific methodology. He insisted that truth could be discovered through careful reasoning rather than authority or tradition and established the intellectual rigor that science requires. Plato made profound contributions by emphasizing that beneath the changing physical world exists an underlying mathematical order. His Theory of Forms suggested that the material world imperfectly reflects eternal\, unchanging abstract principles. In short\, early Greek thinkers were significant contributors to a new age of consciousness that provided the foundation for modern science. For them\, science was a form of natural philosophy\, a means of reflecting on the deep questions of existence and purpose. \n \nWe invite you to join us on a journey of discovery that retraces the footsteps of these remarkable thinkers. Our carefully curated travel experiences will take us to the ancient sites where Greek philosophy was born—from the bustling agora of Athens where Socrates engaged his students in dialectic debate\, to the Temple of Apollo at Delphi\, where “Know Thyself” remains inscribed for all seekers of wisdom. We will walk through the ruins of the Lyceum where Aristotle founded his school\, visit the island of Samos where Pythagoras established his community of learners\, and explore the temples and theaters where these philosophical traditions were woven into the fabric of Greek life. By experiencing Greece not as mere tourists\, but as intellectual pilgrims\, we will gain a profound appreciation for how these ancient thinkers help shaped the world we inhabit today. Whether you are a student of history\, a philosophy enthusiast\, or simply someone curious about the roots of Western thought\, I am sure this journey will enrich your understanding and inspire your own pursuit to know the human experience in a vast and awesome universe. \nSincerely\,\nIlia Delio\, OSF\, Ph. D. \nDownload this brochure .pdf for the full itinerary and program description.
